08:01 am: On the sea where there is no Monday
Gdansk at dawn! (Which is at 8:26, this time of year.)

08:42 am: Before we set sail to the seas where there is no Monday
I found Avon! My slim black MP3 player, apparently none the worse of its adventures.

Now, we're on our way to Gdansk from Mumbai: and sailing past Copenhagen and Elsinore on the way.

I have heard rumours crew are planning a slashy version of Hamlet to be performed on deck while we pass by Denmark: if only we can agree on what the slash pairing is.

12:24 am: About to depart Mumbai for Gdansk
And the figurehead has a good question:
So, internets, if you were sailing from Mumbai to Gdansk what would be your route:
Arabian Sea, Suez Canal, Mediterranean, English Channel and then what? Do you go left around the big island between Sweden and Denmark or do you go right around the big island through Denmark? For preferences, I'd like the route to be on the Copenhagen side because seeing the little mermaid statue would be most cool and in keeping with the theme of the virtual journey.

I agree. I think we should navigate by the coolest route. But what does the navigator say?

What we did in Mumbai

08:56 am: Avon still missing. I'm still sad.
Also, I have yet to write a nano-word. Bloody big event eating up my LIFE.

Have fixed up to go out with a lesbian photography club the Sunday after the conference. That should be fun.

Are we at Mumbai yet? What did we do?

02:37 pm: At sea
I went out for a fluffy coffee and also bought a peanut & chocolate flapjack.

In my head I was sitting on the sunny side of the deck, looking far out to sea, as we sail to Mumbai. I made the capuccino myself in the Dragon's Cabin and found that crew had been making traybakes in the galley last night. No one at work even knows where I am. Join me on deck, shipmates, and bring baked goods from the galley.

10:45 pm: I am tired
I'm sort of watching Matrix Reloaded, and sort of playing Minesweepers, and enjoying the first glass of wine I've had in a fortnight (when feeling ill or tired I mostly don't).

I have a family get-together supposed to happen this weekend. If it doesn't happen, I have a friend's birthday party to go to on Sunday.

Mostly, it's not bad.

Also, we're at sea. When I think of how we're sailing far out at sea right now, I feel much calmer. It may be silly, but it's true.

04:06 pm: At sea.
Today, does not exist. We set sail yesterday.

Meantime, I have a dental appointment tomorrow at 2pm, and an ENT appointment at 3:20. Oh joy, where is thy sting?

Also, I finally saw the second half of the House sixth-season opener, and I don't think this is too much of a spoiler when I say that while the West Wing season four finale/fifth season opener was more of a let-down between fantastic buildup to disappointingly-flat, that's not saying very much. I mean there was angst and trembling blue eyes and so forth, but other than that, really. It was awful.

08:29 pm: Running away to sea
[info]yonmei: Captain and Platypus
[info]whatho: Navigator
[info]seanlily: Insane Second Mate and Penguin
[info]threeoranges: Cabin Boy
[info]rainherder: Librarian and Decorative Penguin
[info]melancharisbron: Physical therapist
[info]mllesatine: Nurse
[info]copracat: Figurehead
[info]ruthi: Dragon
[info]eileenlufkin: Passenger

At sea there is no Monday (except between 9pm-10pm to enable the Navigator to watch Mythbusters).

Our course is set! We shall sail for Mumbai, Gdansk, Samoa, Tahiti, Deception Island, and Puerto Vallarta.

At the bow of the ship is the Figurehead.

The Captain has a cabin at the stern, with special platypus-bunk and two cats.

Port cabins, from bow to stern:

Navigator's cabin: full of maps and cats.
Cabin Boy's cabin: also grows fresh fruit and a blender
Physical therapist's cabin: sea chest with all sorts of massage stuff, and a table, a site-massage chair, and a towel-chute to the ship's laundry.

Starboard cabins, from bow to stern:

Insane Second Mate and Penguin: cabin contains magical sea chest with all kinds of odd things that are exactly what's needed at that moment.
Librarian and Decorative Penguin: decorated with Dewey cards.
Nurse: has board games (Monopoly), dice and cards.

On the boat deck: Dragon's cabin is large and airy and has a retracting roof. Includes the bar, with supplies of ginger biscuits, crystallised ginger and ground ginger. The cabin boy's cabin supplies fresh limes: the Dragon keeps sugar and Cachaca for caiperinhas.

On the lower deck: the ship's vast library and passenger cabin. Passenger helpfully brought along a laptop with lots of good movies and TV shows and fanfiction.

07:45 pm: I'm ill
Last night I logged off and realised my stomach hurt enough I was worried I was going to throw up: so I went to bed with a hot water bottle (and Bob, who wanted to sit on top of the hot water bottle, which was not helpful).

This morning I woke up and realised my stomach did not hurt but I felt ill: sore-throaty, coldy, possibly flu-y (but I hope not).

The only reason I had for going in was a budget meeting, and when I logged on to check/send work email, I found that the person I was supposed to meet with wanted to put the budget meeting off till next Monday anyway.

So I called in a sickie...

...and then I slept, mostly. In the afternoon, I walked down to Ocean Terminal and bought three flavours of bath foam and a 12-oz cup of fresh fruit smoothie which I could kid myself was good for me because I asked them to add a shot of echinacea. (OT: Why is it I can never remember how to spell echinacea without looking it up?) According to WalkIt, that's a 1.4 mile round trip, and that was my exercise for today. Since the uphill part of the road back felt long and tiring, it was probably all the exercise that was good for me.

Anyway. Still planning to run away to sea, but may not get around to designing the boat till Sunday afternoon. If you want to join us, comment here.

04:25 pm: I'm running away to sea
If you want to come with, comment with:

1. Your function aboard ship (cook? pilot? decorative steersperson who shouts nautical lingo at appropriate moments? penguin?);

2. A port you wish the ship to call at;

3. (if you like) a brief description of your cabin, or at least what you plan to bring with you in your sea-chest.

[info]whatho tells me they don't have Mondays at sea, so if you're not aboard by Sunday, we leave port without you. Sorry.

10:13 pm: Fantasy Pirate League
[info]jekesta did it, and she got it from [info]tiniago. We should all do it and then we'd have a Fantasy Pirate Fleet. Which will sail round livejournal being swashbuckling and everything and talking pirate talk and taking prisoners and loot and everything!
