June 30th, 200910:14 pm: Zulu said Fred
1. What is your greatest ambition 1) for today, 2) for the month, 3) for the year?1.1 For today: to compile the email bulletin. 1.2 For June or for July? I could be perverse and say June, which would be the same as for today, wouldn't it? For July: to launch my new website effectively, and to finish writing the latest fanfic. Or I'll get killed. 1.3 To get my photoblogging back on line and to cope with work without losing track of home. 2. You can change one law. What is it, and what does it become?I would amend the 1975 Marriage Act so that same-sex couples could get married. Oh, that's awfully serious. I would change the Hollywood Law that makes it impossible to have two women talking to each other about plot stuff instead of teh menz, and so from now on all films and TV series would pass the Bechdel Test. Is that too frivolous? I think I want to repeal the law of gravity, so that we can all fly whenever we want to. 3. What's your favourite website to visit?I wondered how to answer this one. xkcd because it always makes me smile? www.guardian.co.uk because I habitually turn to it for news? insanejournal.com or redbubble or feministsf - the blog for obvious reasons? No, I think in all honesty it's much simpler than that: www.google.com. Sorry. 4. What's something you are or have been fannish about, and how would you pimp it?Depends what it was. If Blake's 7, probably start with fanfic, and move on to episodes only when actually begged to do so. If Star Trek, probably begin and end with fanfic, plus maybe carefully selected bits of episodes that are genuinely OK, mostly because Spock and McCoy are gazing into each other's eyes. If ST:tng, I'd probably try to start off with "Chain of Command", because that's certainly what hooked me, or possibly just all the Picard/Q episodes. Especially the one where Q licks Picard's ear. Or the one where Q and Picard are tucked up naked in bed together. If The Professionals, same technique as for B7. If MacGyver, make them watch the Murdoc episodes until sufficiently convinced this is the primary pairing, then introduce them to the sincere yet limited M/M fanfic. If M*A*S*H... well, who could fail to melt at the thought of Hawkeye/Mulcahy? They're just too adorable. 5. Beanie caps: height of fashion, or accessory disaster?Disaster. That was easy. You know the rules: if you want to be interviewed, ask me! Current Mood: geeky

June 1st, 200912:20 pm: I am too hot. I need summerweight jeans.
I have a pair of summerweight jeans bought in Arizona in 2004, but unfortunately they no longer fit me. They were extremely nice summerweight jeans, and I miss them. Either that, or I should have the brassneck to wear shorts to the office. ...which I don't. (I don't think I could quite cope with the reaction I'd get if I wore a skirt to the office. The last time I wore a skirt to the office because it was too hot to wear jeans, was when I worked at Compaq, and I got an overreacting omgyou'rewearingaskirt! there, too. (Actually, there, the reactions were probably from people thinking "Is she going to a job interview?" rather than "Is she turning fem?" but either way: shorts or summerweight jeans, not skirt.) This is boring. I didn't mean to be this boring. I uploaded about a thousand photos from my camera to my hard drive yesterday, in two goes - the six hundred plus that had been lurking on my camera for some time (well, over two-thirds of those photos only since Plockton) and the four hundred or so I took at South Queensferry on a Redbubble meetup. That was the first time ever I'd been out for a photographer's outing with a bunch of other camera nuts, and I really enjoyed it. (Though the friend who'd come with me for lunch and theoretically for a bit of a wander post lunch, found the sudden photo-nuttiness of it all a bit much and bailed about 2:30. I couldn't blame him.) I am meant to be having a meeting today with one of my colleagues: so far he's an hour and a half late for it, and has not responded to the e-mail inquiring whether he would like to reschedule. May 31st, 200910:30 pm: Blast the midges
I used to be able to say that midges don't bite me. This was certainly true at one point. The sore bumpy places on my neck, my back, and did I mention my neck, and a couple of places on my face, say that this is no longer true. OUCH. Midges are horrible. Today I went to South Queensferry to meet up with a bunch of photographers from Redbubble. I'd never met any of them before. It was a nice day. You'll see some of my pics on Redbubble, once episode 2 of House Season 5 is over, and I can leave the TV and go upstairs and do that. There isn't a ferry any more in South Queensferry, though there was one for about a thousand years: Queen Margaret used to cross back and forth from Fife and the Lothians and paid to improve it, or some such. Then about 120 years ago they built a beautiful rail bridge, and about 45 years ago they built a far less beautiful road bridge, and, well, no more ferry. Yesterday I went out to the gym and exercised for about an hour and a half, and then I came home and it was the hottest day so far this year and I lay down on my bed and went to sleep. I woke up and Bob was asleep at my right hand and Wolf was asleep at my feet. I still slightly regret that I didn't have the nap in my garden, in the sun, even though I would probably have got sunburned in advance of my trip to South Queensferry. Current Mood: tired

October 26th, 200810:48 pm: Dragons and Redbubble
Redbubble is celebrating their 100,000th anniversary (100 000 pieces sold and shipped!) by offering all buyers free shipping for the next week... and all sellers twice the money they normally receive. The coupon code to receive the free shipping offer is 100000masterpieces – you just enter this during the checkout process to receive the free shipping offer. Click on this red button to go directly to my Redbubble profile - but the free shipping applies whoever you buy from, until one minute to midnight on Thursday 30th October. Special offer: one thing I can do on Redbubble is put together 13 photos into an illustrated calendar - cover and 12 months. (I've only done one so far: Strange Sky.) If you'd like a calendar from Redbubble made up of photos from this blog, or any of my photos on Redbubble, post below with your request - let me know what photos you'd like, even what months you want which photo to go with. If you include a contact e-mail (can be in the e-mail field of your comment) at which I can reach you, I'll put the calendar together and let you know I've done it before 30th October. Bear in mind the photos have got to be of a given size to be included: if Redbubble only offers them for sale as cards, they won't go on a calendar. You then order it via Redbubble, and pay no shipping. (I don't control the price of the calendar. Sorry.) Current Mood: hopeful
