07:37 pm: Cat politics 1: Bob and Gallus Meet
One of the things I forgot to do before I went to Wales was to buy another litter tray. Or two more food bowls, come to that. A Saturday shopping trip looks like a plan.

Bob stood the trip very well: several people commented on how well-behaved she was. (That is, she was very quiet, and she actively preferred to stay in her basket, though on a couple of occasions I opened the basket's door to let her stretch her legs if she liked.)

We got home just at six. I heard Gallus yelling inside the front door. She looked at the cat in the basket and was speechless. Then she ran towards the kitchen and stood in front of the food bowls and yelled at me.

I put the basket down, opened the door, and went to the kitchen to feed Gallus.

My plan was to take Bob upstairs to the bathroom and feed her there, meantime emptying and scouring the litter tray and filling it with fresh litter so that it smelled as little as possible of Gallus.

Actually, what Bob and Gallus wanted to spend the first half hour doing was walking quietly round the house hiding from each other and staring at each other.

Gallus walked away from her food bowl while it was still half-full to do this: so did Bob. After half an hour, Gallus said she wanted to go out, so I let her. While she was out, Bob ate most of the rest of the food in Gallus's bowl. When Gallus came back in, she ate most of the rest of the food in Bob's bowl.

Gallus is now curled up in her usual position in the study. I think Bob is downstairs: I shall be going downstairs in a minute to lie on the sofa, watch TV, and

(actually, Gallus is now on my lap, having yelled at me to pick her up: she is not purring at me, just sitting on me)

wait for any cat who wants to join me in the sitting room.

I think I need a cat politics icon. However, as nobody has killed anybody yet, or even looked like they wanted to, I'm going to go for my lovely Who icon.
