06:18 am: Dissecting Orson Scott Card, part 1
It's been claimed elsewhere that because Orson Scott Card is "a really intelligent writer", his arguments are difficult to address. This is not so: Card is intelligent, but in his lying piece of bigotry 'Civilization', he's not using his intelligence so much as his ability to lie: to create a fiction. ( Let's begin with his opening statement: )

( lie, lie, twist, twist, lie )

( historical tricks )


( Card fulminates against the sanctity of marriage )

( Card makes sweeping (and untrue) claims about marriage and tries to confuse the reader about belief )

( Men know what men like. )

( OSC lies about history )

( OSC claims that his kids are being harmed by other people's divorces )

I'll continue with this tomorrow. Dissecting OSC's false logic and lying claims is hard work!

02:23 pm: Well, I just got the official letter telling me that come the end of the month...
I'm redundant.

You know what, I think this is three times in three years. Well, nearly. 2001, 2002, 2004... of course, this time I was expecting it. And the last time it happened I was very grateful for it. And the first time it happened I was actually planning on resigning until they told me they'd pay me a lot of money to go away if I didn't.

Still, it was a good excuse to go buy myself a capuccino. Mmmm, espresso coffee.
