11:15 am: Took Wolf to the vet this morning
He's in awesomely good health and good condition, and he weighs 4.7 kilos - about 1.5 kilos more than Bob. He's almost too big for the cat cage - but he's just about two years old and I kind of hope he has actually stopped growing. (He hates the cage, poor baby, but when we got to the vet he stayed inside it until literally dragged out, and spent most of the time on the vet's table with his nose pushed into my fleece looking up at me with big gold worried eyes.)

(I will have had Wolf for two years on the 7th of August this year, and he was just six weeks old when I got him, so... yes, he had his 2nd birthday at the end of June.)

I feel so awful sometimes, dragging Ben Venue out of the carrier at the vet's; and then the moment they let him go he slinks back into it, tail between his legs.

Katrine, on the other hand, has been known to wander interestedly around the examining room.

I'm quite heartless about it really. Cally used to growl steadily - the only time I remember her doing it - and once the vet said "you shouldn't have your face so close to her" - and I thought, yeah, but she's not going to go for me, and went right on petting her right up close. ;-) Gallus just used to huddle - when I took them in the same cage, Cally always managed it so that Gallus was at the front of the cage and was first out.

Bob tries to wander off, but I think this is less "interest" than "consuming desire to escape".

Wolf just seemed a bit shellshocked - the last time he was at the vet would have been 18 months ago, when I had him snipped.

I've had the vet say the same to me about putting my face close to a snarling cat, which is really missing the point. It's not my face that's in danger.

I hope Wolf's over his ordeal.

Seems to be. The vet said the booster shot might make him feel under the weather, so I haven't let him out. I'm feeling under the weather. It's not good weather.
